In the 2015 general election, turnout among 18-24 year olds was 43%, half of that seen in over 65s. In the Brexit referendum, that number was even lower (36%). Historically, young people haven’t voted. But this changed in 2017.
The UK has a newly galvanised and passionate youth electorate. In a world of “Fake News” and divisive debate, young people need a reliable, unbiased and engaging way of finding information. The Germinal will be a multimedia platform, which will maintain, nurture and develop this energised electorate, at a time when young people are searching for bipartisan information.
